When you watch Gleason safety Ashton Morgan, it’s hard to believe he’s only a member of the Class of 2026. At 6’0, 165 pounds, Morgan has already developed into a versatile two-way playmaker. Whether it’s making defenders miss in the open field on offense or flying downhill to deliver a punishing hit on defense, his presence is felt on every snap.

Morgan’s football journey began back in third grade with the Martin Youth Football League. Growing up, he patterned his game after the legendary Legion of Boom — Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman, and Earl Thomas — a group known for toughness, swagger, and physicality. That influence shows today in Morgan’s fearless style of play.
Through the first half of this season, he has already recorded 50 tackles for the Bulldogs, who sit at 2–3. But it was his performance versus Lake County that has really turned heads: in that game he posted 12 tackles, snagged 3 interceptions, broke up 3 passes, recorded 1 tackle for loss, and recovered 1 fumble — all while being scouted by USA Top 100 .
Morgan credits much of his growth to longtime head coach Noah Lampkins, who has led the program for 24 years. Lampkins, a former All-American at Lambuth University, has built a reputation for his hard-nosed coaching style and ability to push players to maximize their potential.
“Coach Lampkins always lets you know what you can do better,” Morgan said. “He knows a lot about the game, and he pushes us to be great.”
Recruiting attention has already started to come in for Morgan. He has received letters and interest from programs like Austin Peay and Kentucky Wesleyan, with more expected as his junior and senior seasons unfold.

For now, Morgan remains focused on improving and helping his team finish strong. His advice for younger players reflects the resilience he plays with:
“No matter the struggle, never give up.”
With his size, skill set, and work ethic — and game-changing performances like the one against Lake County — Ashton Morgan is shaping up to be one of Gleason’s next great players — and very much a name college coaches will be keeping a close eye on.
