BRIDGEPORT, Texas — At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, MJ Eslinger already looks the part of a dominant defensive lineman. But it’s his motor, aggression, and rapid development that have college programs beginning to take notice of the Class of 2027 standout from Bridgeport High School.
Eslinger lines up at defensive tackle and defensive end, bringing versatility to a Bridgeport program competing at the 4A level in Texas. While the Bulls are in a rebuilding phase, that reality has only fueled Eslinger’s hunger. Those around the program expect a tougher, more physical team — with Eslinger leading the charge in the trenches.
Known for being aggressive, strong, and explosive off the ball, Eslinger is often the first defender to make contact at the snap. His play style draws comparisons to NFL standout Dexter Lawrence, especially in his ability to control gaps, disrupt the run game, and change the tone of a drive.
This offseason, Eslinger has been putting in serious work with Coach Money Martin, focusing on adding speed and agility to complement his natural power. The emphasis has been on keeping his hands active, staying in constant motion, and learning to move comfortably and quickly in tight spaces — key traits for high-level defensive linemen.
Technically, Eslinger already flashes an advanced arsenal. His bull rush remains his calling card, but he’s also developing swim and spin moves to keep offensive linemen guessing. The result is a hybrid defensive lineman who excels as a run stopper and has the tools to be a true game changer.
Next on his schedule is the Nico Trenches Lineman Camp, where he’ll test his skills against elite competition and continue refining his craft.
All eyes will then turn to Houston on May 16, where Eslinger is set to compete in the USA Top 100 All-American Game.
Expect a high-energy, physical performance from a defensive lineman determined to make his presence felt.
Still in the early stages of his recruitment, Eslinger sees the Houston showcase as an opportunity to put himself on the map. If his trajectory continues upward, it won’t be long before more programs are circling his name.
