Name: KD Gross Position: Running Back / Linebacker Height/Weight: 5’10” / 190 lbs
School: Lake County High School (TN) Class: 2026 (Senior)
In the quiet corners of Northwest Tennessee, one of the most underrated playmakers in the state is putting up big numbers and even bigger effort every Friday night.
KD Gross, a senior at Lake County High School, currently boasts 946 all-purpose yards and 15 total touchdowns in just six games. But stats only tell part of the story.
Gross plays at a 1A program, where he does not have the luxury of playing just one side of the ball.
He starts both ways — running back and linebacker — and contributes on special teams, meaning his film won’t look like a prospect who rotates every few drives or sits out on defense.
What you will see is a tough, explosive athlete making plays all over the field, every snap.
With a young roster around him, Gross faces loaded boxes and defensive game plans built to stop him. Still, he delivers — making defenders miss, finishing runs through contact, and flashing sideline-to-sideline speed on defense.
“He’s been nothing short of electric,” said one evaluator. “He’s the best player on the field every week, and he does it while never coming off the field.
That says everything you need to know about his toughness and motor.”
At 5’10” and 190 lbs, Gross passes the eye test physically. He’s strong, compact, and moves with confidence.
As a linebacker Gross has a total of 38 tackles , 32 solo tackles.
Off the field, he’s even more impressive — a high-character leader, elite student, and respected teammate.
In a part of the state that’s often overlooked in recruiting, KD Gross is the kind of player who gets slept on — until it’s too late.
Bottom Line:
If you’re a college program looking for a tough, intelligent, high-ceiling player who loves the game and lives in the weight room and classroom — KD Gross is worth the risk. And more than likely, he’ll prove to be the reward.
