Standing at 6’2” and 160 pounds, 2026 wide receiver Xavier Owens has carved his path from the streets of Los Angeles to one of Louisiana’s most prestigious football

programs.

His journey began at just 10 years old with the West Valley Rebels, where his love for football was born playing outside his apartment complex.

Owens’ early years were spent refining his game across some of California’s top programs. He attended Crespi High School as a freshman before transferring to Narbonne High School for his sophomore year.

Between his 10th and 11th grades,

Owens began attending football camps—and that’s when the recruiting spotlight found him.

When his mother made the decision to move the family to Louisiana, Owens landed at Edna Karr High School, a powerhouse program known for developing elite talent. The transition has been a success.

“Expectations are high at Edna Karr,” Owens said. “This program is different. Coach Brice Brown has a calm demeanor, but his preparation is elite.”

Known for his physical play, violent blocking, and elite route running, Owens has become both a red zone and vertical threat. His combination of finesse and physicality has drawn comparisons to George Pickens, Justin Jefferson, and DeVonta Smith—receivers known for their explosiveness and precision.

Owens’ hard work and performance have paid off with a commitment to Fresno State. He connected deeply with wide receivers coach Delvon Hardaway, who, like Owens, grew up in Los Angeles. Hardaway discovered him at a showcase and immediately saw the potential.

From backyard games to Friday night lights, Xavier Owens’ story is one of perseverance, passion, and purpose—a young man grounded in his roots but ready to rise to the next level.
